Walking Tour of Blandtown and Open Studio

Blandtown on Atlanta’s Westside is booming, but few know the neighborhood by its proper name nor its history. Learn more about the former African American community through a neighborhood walk led by artist Gregor Turk and author Dr. Rhana Gittens Wheeler. Her recent book, Ghosts of Atlanta, in part examines Blandtown’s cultural gentrification. The tour starts at one of the last remaining original Blandtown homes, now an artist studio. Featured in the studio is artwork created in response to the history and development of the neighborhood.
